To my readers apologies for having been offline for a hot minute, I am currently in the middle of multiple project deadlines so the blog has had to take a back seat, but holy shit Daft Punk is back so screw deadlines for a minute this needs some sharing.
However when I heard that my favourite duo Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter aka Daft Punk were stirring I popped my head up to discover a series of teasers which I am guessing are going to lead to the release of the track of the summer ‘Get Lucky’ and the album of the decade ‘Random Access Memories’.
After the critics accused their last studio album ‘Human After All’ of being cold, detached and mechanical, the two androids have gone back to the past to create the future and seem poised to deliver an album I feel will dictate the course of music for the next decade.
Collaborating with legends like Giorgio Moroder, Todd Edwards, DJ Falcon & Nile Rodgers who’s trademark guitar licks are peppered all over ‘Get Lucky’ and with the vocal talents of Pharrell Williams Daft Punk have crafted what can only be described as a future disco track, full of funk and groovy as hell.
After a decade of sterile chart music we have a full on banger that could well reverse the trend in fact I hope this gives producers the kick needed to start humanising their music again. I have never been more excited about a single and album release.
I haven’t bought a great album in ages but I fully expect this forth coming Daft Punk Long Player ‘Random Access Memories’ to be the culmination of the Filtered House Funk of ‘Da Funk’, the future facing triumph of an album that was ‘Discovery’ the hard robotic beats of ‘Human After All’.
If like me you are fully geeking out about this and desperately want to hear more then checkout the ‘Random Access Memories Collaborator Series’ by the Creators Project.
